Vision

The cyberspace is a large society of software artifacts, information sources, and devices that

  • ubiquitously interact with each other

  • are able to self-manage at run-time

  • are able to increase their degree of autonomy and responsibility over time!

Yet, scaleable, reliable, secure, ...

Mission

To develop theoretical and engineering foundations and technologies to improve the "quality" of Cooperative Distributed Systems applications.

Expertise

Agent Orientation (AO)

AO provides the next generation in the evolution of computational modeling, programming methodologies, and software engineering paradigms. We view "agent" as a metaphorical conceptualization tool at a high level of abstraction (knowledge level) that captures, supports, and implements features that are useful for distributed computation in open environments. It is a level of abstraction to construct computational systems (agents) that inherent the agenthood features.

Cooperative Distributed Systems (CDS)

CDS is a class of systems with entities that are able to perform some functions independently and exercise some degree of authority  in sharing their capabilities. An entity can be a knowledge server, a financial advisor or an intelligent robot.

 Challenges
  • How is Agent Orientation (AO) evolving?

    • AO Analysis & Design Methodology

    • AO Programming Language

    • AO Computational Model

  • Complexity & Quality at Agent-level and CDS-level

  • Predicable and Bounded CDS behavior

  • Agents for the Masses

  • Scalability and Pervasiveness
